In the previous two articles we highlighted that the workforce is unengaged (67% of employees are unengaged, or actively disengaged), and that lack of engagement leads to turnover, and the substantial associated costs of replacing employees.

In this article, we address one of the most critical factors that impact employee engagement: employees' satisfaction with their supervisor. It has been said that employees don't leave companies, they leave their supervisors. Unfortunately, the data seems to corroborate this sentiment. The greater the satisfaction with one's supervisor, the greater the level of engagement. Even more telling is when satisfaction with one's supervisor decreases, the level of disengagement decreased by even greater percentages.
