Do you find complying with labor posters to be a real maze of red tape? As many employers have found, determining the correct posters requires a fair amount of research. Not only do you have to ensure you have the correct federal posters but you also need to assess any state or local requirements as well. Relying on a “poster service” isn’t foolproof either. If you use a poster service to provide your labor postings, they typically utilize a “one size fits all” approach. Since all businesses aren’t one size, this can be akin to buying fool’s gold. The one size fits all method can result in the posting of laws that are not applicable. For example, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) kicks in when an organization has 50 or more employees. For an organization with fewer than 50 employees, this poster is not required. However, posting FMLA rules could confuse employees into thinking they are eligible for a benefit when in fact they are not. To help organizations get past this maze of red tape, the government provides a site to assist you in determining which Federal Posters are required for your business. Simply click here and answer several questions related to your business. Not only will it provide you with a list of the required posters, it will also provide links to download them!
